This is outstanding news. Expect the left to redouble their efforts to revive the Fairness Doctrine.
And isn't it interesting to note that Rush Limbaugh is thriving and the left just can't get their act together on talk radio? I've always suspected that is because the people who listen to talk radio are people going to jobs or on the road for work; in other words, people who tend to contribute to society instead of taking from society and those people are generally conservative.

Talk about squelching commentary!
I made a simple opposing post to this Rush Limbaugh "love fest" making the point that Limbaugh is an entertainer, not a news commentator, and THAT is probably why he now commands so much money.
I also made the point that maybe the reason the "left" has yet to "get their act together" on talk radio is because such people are well capable of figuring out for themselves what to believe. They certainly don't need some blow hard on the radio leading them around by the nose and doing so.
However, now along comes this clown "Erick" (I presume he is part of your resident "thought police" here) who apparently doesn't seem to want to let anyone besides those who are in love with Limbaugh post anything other than the "party line".
And so he removes my post, adds his own snide remark, and has now banned me from posting...with no questions and with no "warning" as outlined in your "rules of engagement". And my hunch is that he will most likely do so again with this post as well.
Clearly, you people don't want honest discussion here. You simply want everyone to be in lock step with your own far right "group think".
So much for your precious "fairness doctrine"!

Once Obama gets elected czar, Obama will drop all exemptions and raise all rates and between "big oil"'s windfall profit taxes and Rush's taxes; the US will be in the surplus !(please denote sarcasm).
By 'we' I mean Rush and the Dittoheads. When conservative ideas are put out there 3 hours a day, subject to cross-examination, and the result is 20m listeners (that is one out of every 15 American citizens) remains tuned in, then the power of those ideas is something we should use in electoral politics.

Those listener numbers, at least the one's from Talkers magazine which everyone cites, are weekly cumulative numbers. Presumably many people listen on more than one day, so the actual number of people who listen in a given week is probably less than the weekly total.
What you are saying Talker said (and maybe they said it) is that there are an average 5 million daily listeners.
What the 20 million means is unique listeners per week -- i.e., in answer to the question 'Do you listen to Rush at least once per week', 20 million listeners respond in the affirmative.

as to why he is doing the interview with the NY Times is that both sides (being Limbaugh and the NYT) have something to gain. It seems logical that one of the terms in his contract would be that he has to actively seek out new listeners, and there is no better place to cherry-pick downtrodden (sp?) liberals than the New York Times. From the interview, the NYT now can restore some of it's credibility in terms of being seen as a "partisan" paper, and hope to increase the number of subscriptions.

Always interesting to see Capitalism work.
He has a successful show, he gets paid alot.
The left would complain because their horrible talk shows that no one listens to don't get that kind of money. They'd call it 'unfair'
That's what is GREAT about Capitalism: It is fair. Yes, there will always be some who can take advantage of the system, but on the whole, if you sacrifice and work hard, you can achieve.
Under Communism/Socialism/Obamaism..... you just sacrifice and work hard.

First time I have read the NY times in a while and actually enjoyed it!!!!! Congratulations to Rush - - consideration becoming a member of Rush's party - - not that expensive really per month and frankly it seem like the money is better spent with Rush than with any politician.

Mr. Limbaugh deserves all accolades, financial and otherwise. He is a worthy successor to Mr. Buckley, and I hope he remains an irritant to liberals and the Socialist Left for many years.
